Increasing NEAT

I wonder if I'm just too sedentary when I'm not working out. Sometimes if I'm doing lab stuff I'm on my feet for hours, but, when the machine is running a 3 hour reaction I end up at the computer. Then when I'm at home, my place is not huge and there's only so much puttering I can do before it's time to sit down and put all my food in the spreadsheet and figure out what to eat for the next day. Part of the problem is that I'm a pasty freak. Sat outside last week for about 15 minutes wearing SPF 70 and still managed to get burned and broke out in a rash where I burned. I don't like the sun. I'm happiest at 10 degrees so I feel trapped indoors when it's hot and sunny out (even at this latitude) which puts a damper on afternoon walks.
