Really physically tired today so I struggled thru the lifts and then rounded out my hour practicing patterns for the upcoming belt test. You’re supposed to focus on form, of course, but also on power so patterns are surprisingly strenuous. Then this evening I went to class for an hour following by board-breaking class. I didn’t break for the last test because of the calf tear so tonight I had to break for the upcoming test and for the previous test and managed to do them both on the first try! Go, me.
For some reason everybody gets all worried about form. To some extent, proper form gives you maximum power, but breaking is generally ugly and functional. Plus, we weenies tend -- if anything -- to break too hard and there’s no graceful recovery when you have to yank your foot out of the board-holder or your instructor’s solar plexus.
I keep getting into the candy and cookies and holiday treats left out. There's a little table by the lab door where you can leave your coffee or water and people have been baking like fiends and leaving cookies galore. Cookies are merely cookies, hardly flabworthy. I need to focus on eating clean so I can just enjoy the parties coming up...
